CEU APPROVAL BY PROFESSION
The Missouri licensing boards for LPCs, LMFTs, and psychologists have indicated CEUs provided by CCCA meet the continuing education requirements for these professions. Relevant statutes are provided below, however, it is the ultimate and sole responsibility of attendees to confirm approval with their respective board concerning CEUs obtained via seminars at CCCA.
LPCs
20 CSR 2095-1.064 Continuing Education Requirements
PURPOSE: This rule establishes the requirements for continuing education. (1) Pursuant to section 337.510.5, RSMo, all licensed professional counselors shall complete at least forty (40) hours of continuing education (CE) prior to the expiration date of the license. Such hours shall be relevant to the practice of professional counseling as defined in sections 337.500(5), (6), and (7), RSMo.

(5) Formal continuing education is defined as follows:
(D) Attending workshops, seminars, or continuing education courses relevant to counseling as defined in section 337.500(5), (6), and (7), RSMo. The licensee shall provide verification of attendance such as a certificate or letter of attendance indicating the date, time, and number of hours of continuing education from the workshop, seminar, or course provider;
Relevant statute: 337.500 RSMo (6) “Practice of professional counseling”, rendering, offering to render, or supervising those who render to individuals, couples, groups, organizations, institutions, corporations, schools, government agencies, or the general public any counseling service involving the application of counseling procedures, and the principles and methods thereof, to assist in achieving more effective intrapersonal or interpersonal, marital, decisional, social, educational, vocational, developmental, or rehabilitative adjustments;

20 CSR 2233-2.050 Renewal of License
(A) Formal continuing education shall consist of one (1) or a combination of any of the following:
- Attending work shops, seminars, or continuing education courses relevant to marital and family therapy as defined in section 337.700(7) and (8), RSMo (see relevant statute). Upon request by the state committee the licensee shall provide verification of attendance such as a certificate or letter of attendance indicating the date, time, and number of hours of continuing education from the workshop, seminar, or course provider.
Relevant Statute: 337.700 (7) “Marital and family therapy”, the use of scientific and applied marriage and family theories, methods and procedures for the purpose of describing, diagnosing, evaluating and modifying marital, family and individual behavior within the context of marital and family systems, including the context of marital formation and dissolution. Marriage and family therapy is based on systems theories, marriage and family development, normal and dysfunctional behavior, human sexuality and psychotherapeutic, marital and family therapy theories and techniques and includes the use of marriage and family therapy theories and techniques in the diagnosis, evaluation, assessment and treatment of intrapersonal or interpersonal dysfunctions within the context of marriage and family systems. Marriage and family therapy may also include clinical research into more effective methods for the treatment and prevention of the above-named conditions;

PURPOSE: This rule defines terms used in 20
CSR 2235 Chapter 7. (1) “Accredited program, seminar, or activity”— Is a program, seminar, or activity presented under the auspices of—
(A) Regionally accredited institution of
higher education;
(B) American psychology association;
(C) Regional psychological association;
(D) State psychological association;
(E) Local psychological association;
(F) American Medical Association; and
(G) Other professional bodies or groups.

At this time, CEUs at CCCA have not been given blanket approval by the Committee for Social Workers in Missouri. Please contact your licensing board to receive approval for a particular seminar.
